Councilmember Yvette Diane Clarke to Announce Opening of New CarePlus Health Plan Brooklyn Office During “Cover the Uninsured Week” sponsored by Mayor’s Office.

– The grand opening ceremony for the new CarePlus Health Plan community office located at 838 Flatbush Avenue will take place Thursday May 13, 2004 at 11am. Councilmember Yvette Clarke will welcome the office to her district with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The opening coincides with national “Cover the Uninsured Week” which takes place from May 10 – 16.

The MayorÂ’s Office for Health Insurance Access (MOHIA) recently announced that of the 1.8 million New York City residents that are uninsured, 816,000 of them are eligible for Public Health Insurance programs such as Medicaid, Child Health Plus and Family Health Plus. 268,000 of this eligible population reside in Brooklyn. 

This new office on Flatbush Ave at Linden Blvd brings a convenient health care option to the Brooklyn community. Innovative classes for children will be offered for free at this location for all CarePlus members and anyone who is in need of health insurance can stop in for more information about FREE or low cost insurance. “Our new office is in the heart of Brooklyn because we want to really make a difference in the communities we serve and we are excited and honored to have Councilmember Yvette Clarke joining us to help raise awareness about the importance of health care” stated Karin Ajmani, President CarePlus Health Plan.
